Wayne “Porky” Young, ARA will be installed as the Texas Chapter President. He will be setting up the program.
Calvary Court is a new Hotel and Conference Center on University Drive across from the Texas A&M campus. For all you ol’ Ags, this development was built where the old married housing was located. Cavalry Court has a lot of green space, fire pit areas, a great pool with cabanas, and a lively bar restaurant called The Canteen. They are part of Century Square, a mixed use center, with more bars/restaurants and shopping—all walk-able. Cavalry Court is across from Texas A&M and less than a mile from Northgate. They offer complimentary Gameday shuttle.
A group block has been created; the code is TCA889. Guests can make reservations on line at www.cavalrycourt.com using this group code or by calling reservations at 866-842-0100 and referencing this code or the group name Texas Chapter ASFMRA. Rooms are $119/night. Deadline for hotel reservations is September 12.
I have also negotiated a discounted rate for any members that would like to stay for the Texas A&M vs Kentucky football game on Saturday, Oct 6. For hotel reservations on the game weekend, you will need to call the hotel directly and speak with Sophie Curtis. The game rate is $299/night. The hotel will take up to 10 at this rate. I encourage you to book early since they will not be able to hold rooms at this rate as we get closer to the game.
